Initiative Against Domestic Abuse in Roraima
The Civil Police of Roraima (PCRR), through the Specialized Women’s Assistance Delegation (DEAM), executed an operation on the morning of the eighth day of this month. This effort was aimed at carrying out a search and seizure warrant at the residence of J.L.G., a businessman aged forty-seven years old who is accused of threatening his former partner with a firearm and engaging in psychological and emotional abuse.
Details Surrounding the Incident
The head investigator at DEAM, Kamilla Basto, reported that the victim sought assistance from their office located within Casa da Mulher Brasileira after enduring over twenty years with her abuser. They have three children together but have been separated for approximately one year while still living under one roof.
Dynamics of Control and Intimidation
The accused exercised significant control over his ex-partner’s life by restricting her movements while he led an active social life outside their home. The victim recounted numerous threats against her safety as well as intimidation directed towards her mother where he claimed he would “ruin” her.
Appeal for Protective Measures
The victim voiced concerns regarding his access to firearms and requested an Urgent Protective Measure (MPU).
< h2>Court Authorization for Search Warrant
< p>A judicial request was submitted by DEAM seeking permission to search J.L.G.’s residence for any firearms present which was subsequently approved by the court.
A comprehensive investigation conducted today at J.L.G.’s property resulted in discovering a PT938 caliber .380 pistol along with twelve rounds of ammunition and one magazine.
Investigator Basto also noted that J.L.G.has previous criminal records including DUI charges and also past arrests related to illegal firearm possession.
The seized weapon will be processed through DEAM before being handed over to the seizure department at TJRR (Tribunal de Justiça de Roraima).
“The firearm has been successfully confiscated while notifying him about protective measures requiring him to vacate their shared residence,” stated investigator Basto.” The woman is currently receiving support from Maria da Penha Patrol services while Casa da Mulher Brasileira offers shelter should she choose it,” she added.
