The airports of Campo Grande, Corumbá, Ponta Porã, and Dourados, in Mato Grosso do Sul, will receive a total investment of R$ 658 million for expansion and modernization works. The announcement was made this Tuesday (17) by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, during an event in the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul.

According to the minister, the resources are part of a joint strategy between the federal and state governments to strengthen regional aviation and boost tourism and economic development in the state.

“Today, we have over R$ 1 billion in ongoing infrastructure works and another R$ 658 million in investments in the airports, which will strengthen regional aviation, business tourism, leisure tourism, and further aid in the growth of the state’s economy,” he said.

According to Costa Filho, the idea is to also expand the offer of flights within the federation unit in the coming months. “We are in dialogue with Gol, Azul, and Latam, alongside Aena, to expand the state’s air connectivity,” he stated.

On the occasion, the new Multisensory Room at the capital’s airport was also inaugurated. This is a space dedicated to welcoming passengers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other specific sensory conditions.

Concession Contract of Aena Brasil

The investments in the state’s airports are part of Phase 1B of the concession contract of Aena Brasil. This action is expected to be completed by June 2026.

The works will be executed by the consortium formed by the companies Construcap and Copasa for Campo Grande, Corumbá, and Ponta Porã; and by Engetal for Dourados airport.

According to the National Secretary of Civil Aviation, Tomé Franca, the investments contribute to the evolution of the sector and ensure more jobs and income in Mato Grosso do Sul.

“We are experiencing a historic cycle of investments in airport infrastructure in Brazil. In 2024 alone, we delivered more than 40 requalified airports. Here in Mato Grosso do Sul, what we are doing is one of the largest investments at once in the state’s history, and we are very proud to lead this process,” he pointed out.

The event also featured the presence of the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, who praised the work done in the state in the civil aviation sector. “It is a recognition of those who set out to deliver and are delivering,” she said.
