The dollar closed the last session down 0.27%, quoted at R$ 5.64.
Throughout the session, the currency reached a value of R$ 5.74 but began to drop following the government’s retraction on the Tax on Financial Transactions (IOF).
The economic team of the Lula government announced on Thursday (22) an increase in the tax on currency transactions. However, they did not proceed with the measure.
According to financial market analysts, the use of the IOF as a revenue-raising measure affected investor sentiment.
Meanwhile, the euro closed around R$ 6.41.
